After the dust settles

()

Thank goodness for Dr.Wilma holding the fort up here while I perilously flop like the last goldfish cracker in a puddle of party ooze. I feel like the past two weeks have either been about attending children’s parties or throwing one. My pregnant state has made me such a mess. This preggo brain business is dangerous and can even result in costly mistakes.
Last week I spotted my check engine light turn on and then it laughed at me. I swear that’s what it did, first the light came on… and it was sort of giving me the stink-eye… and then there was an audible laugh. So I hauled ‘ol Murphy, the big, green station wagon of my mommy dreams, into our local mechanic. I was so stressed, what about the costs of throwing this party? Then I got a call in the early afternoon that I had left my gas cap off, forgot it last time I filled up… that’ll be $50… Thanks Mr.Mechanic for the $7 gas cap. Oh well, it could always be worse right? My husband was kind enough to say, “At least you didn’t drive off with the pump still attached to your gas tank.” Hurray, thanks sweetheart, you’re right, I’m not an utter moron just yet. read more »
Round 3: Planning a kid's birthday

()

You may have noticed that Dr.Wilma and I have daughters with birthday’s that are fairly close together. She just finished celebrating her daughters’ first birthday and my daughter’s 3rd birthday is rapidly approaching. If only it was the first - they’re so easy & mellow, a little family, a little meal and maybe some simple water fun and voila, a party fit for a 1yr old. As they get older, everything has to get more complicated it seems. I don’t know why I chose to have such a big shin dig for my daughter’s second party, I probably still could have gotten away with something tiny, it ended up about thirty people (adults and children) and it was almost completely missed by daughter who still took naps back then. I had to wake her up and sell her on the idea that cake and pizza and friends were waiting for her presence. read more »
Happy Birthday ... um oh yeah BIRTHDAAAAAAY!

()

So my daughter is turning one this weekend. I have not bought any gifts, planned any parties, or put much thought into the whole thing. I love my little bean but does she need a huge party that she won’t understand and in most cases as I have witnessed have a mental breakdown from all the goings on? I do suck for the whole gift thing. I can confess to that but she has EVERYTHING she could want or need to play with thanks to the fact that she is the second child so out came all her brothers old baby toys. read more »
I am going to force myself to buy something today. This means the mall (UGH) perhaps a keepsake such as a bracelet or necklace. On second thought she might end up chewing the damn thing off. Maybe some Rawhide… ooooh and swim goggles for her toilet adventures? She would probably really enjoy those more than the alternative.
